I saw The Fantasticks at The Players Club of Swarthmore last Saturday night and I was completely blown away! Lis Seymour Serpentine (Luisa) was in perfect voice and beautifuly cast as "The Girl". John Battagliese (Matt) was charming and a joy to watch as "The Boy". Bob Miller (El Gallo) is a sexy barritone who is also the narrator who weaves us in and out of this dramady. Charlie Seymour, Jr. (Liz's real-life father) is brilliantly cast as the doting father, Bellomy. Ron Comer (Hucklebee) conjured up images of the neighbor everyone hates, but in reality has a heart of gold. Jenna Sharples (The Mute) was stunning as she elegantly moved the story along using various props. The comic relief came from two of my favorite actors - Sean Murray (Old Actor) and Darrin Peters (Mortimer). Their comedic timing and campiness were in tune with other famous duos, Laurel & Hardy; Abbot & Costello; Martin and Lewis, just to name a few. Mickie Ferdinand (Pianist/Musical Director) and Caitlin Mehrtens (Harpist) provided the the perfect compliment for these top-notch performers in this beautifully staged musical directed by Joseph P. Southard.

Thank you for such a wonderful review. The Mute would thank you herself if she was allowed to speak.
