ALL ABOUT EVE

This was on TCM a few nights ago. Clearly one of Bette Davis' best roles.

BLACK SWAN

Saw this wonderful film yesterday at The Bryn Mawr Film Institute. It was breath taking... Outstanding visual effects, but it didn't depend on it. The story had plenty of substance. The actors were also very strong and engaging. It was very nice to see very familiar faces - Barbara Hershey was wonderful as the overly protective mother. Winona Ryder was brilliant as the once star principal ballerina who's bright light has faded. Mila Kunis, a That 70's Show allum, was perfect as Nina's understudy. Vincent Cassel did such an amazing job as the choreographer, that at times he was quite creepy. Of course, Natalie Portman was very believable as the perfectionist prima ballerina.

This is the trailer for the international release of my mother's film from the late sixties... It's been dubbed in English. My mom is the woman wearing the coral gown, attacked by a tree and at the very end of the clip.

Die! Die! My Darling! trailer - Tallulah Bankhead

This is Tallulah at her campiest! She wore no make-up, her hair was dyed gray and there were a lot of unflattering close-ups. Before the film was released, it was shown to Tallulah and some of her friends. After her first scene, she stood up and told everyone, "Darlings, I must appologize for looking older than God's wet nurse!" She had also said that the reason she did the film was because she needed the money. This, of course was not true. In fact, when Tallulah became ill during the filming she put up her own money for the film to guarantee that she wouldn't be replaced.

THE PRODUCERS

This is my most recent completed project. Go to my costume design page to see the other photos from this wonderful production.

Looped On Broadway - Clip from the Show - "Breath Mints"

I wish that I could have seen this show. But, alas... It closed before I even had a chance to try and get tickets. Unfortunately, I think that it was at least a couple of decades too late. Most of the people who knew of Tallulah Bankhead have been long gone.

NINA, The Movie

I am so very proud to have been the production designer and make-up artist for this indie movie.

My poor sister-in-law just looks on as their lovely apartment got "The Ugly Treatment". the once sunny yellow walls were covered with peel and stick wallpaper and made to look like a NY tennament. The rust and grease stains were made with water-based tempera paint and colored hairspray. All temporary and washable.

THE FANTASTICKS

I saw The Fantasticks at The Players Club of Swarthmore last Saturday night and I was completely blown away! Lis Seymour Serpentine (Luisa) was in perfect voice and beautifuly cast as "The Girl". John Battagliese (Matt) was charming and a joy to watch as "The Boy". Bob Miller (El Gallo) is a sexy barritone who is also the narrator who weaves us in and out of this dramady. Charlie Seymour, Jr. (Liz's real-life father) is brilliantly cast as the doting father, Bellomy. Ron Comer (Hucklebee) conjured up images of the neighbor everyone hates, but in reality has a heart of gold. Jenna Sharples (The Mute) was stunning as she elegantly moved the story along using various props. The comic relief came from two of my favorite actors - Sean Murray (Old Actor) and Darrin Peters (Mortimer). Their comedic timing and campiness were in tune with other famous duos, Laurel & Hardy; Abbot & Costello; Martin and Lewis, just to name a few. Mickie Ferdinand (Pianist/Musical Director) and Caitlin Mehrtens (Harpist) provided the the perfect compliment for these top-notch performers in this beautifully staged musical directed by Joseph P. Southard.
