BLACK SWAN

Saw this wonderful film yesterday at The Bryn Mawr Film Institute. It was breath taking... Outstanding visual effects, but it didn't depend on it. The story had plenty of substance. The actors were also very strong and engaging. It was very nice to see very familiar faces - Barbara Hershey was wonderful as the overly protective mother. Winona Ryder was brilliant as the once star principal ballerina who's bright light has faded. Mila Kunis, a That 70's Show allum, was perfect as Nina's understudy. Vincent Cassel did such an amazing job as the choreographer, that at times he was quite creepy. Of course, Natalie Portman was very believable as the perfectionist prima ballerina.
